The forum is for the open-source community — to show what you built, ask for help, hire, and talk shop. A few guidelines keep it useful for everyone.
The channels
BuiltShow something you built that people can try — include a link to the repo, demo, or download.
AskAsk a specific question — the more concrete, the better the answers. Search first to avoid repeats.
HiringPost a real open-source role or gig. Include whether it's remote, the rough comp, and a link to apply.
DiscussStart a general open-source discussion — ideas, news, opinions. Keep it kind and on-topic.
The rules
- Be kind. Critique ideas, not people. No harassment, hate, or personal attacks.
- Stay on-topic. This is an open-source community — keep posts relevant to building, using, or working in open source.
- No spam or reposts. Don’t flood the forum, repost the same link, or post purely to promote outside the Built and Hiring channels.
- Pick the right channel. A post in the wrong channel may be moved or removed.
- No misleading titles. Say what the link actually is. Editorialising or clickbait gets flagged.
- Hiring must be real. Only post genuine open-source roles or gigs, with a way to apply.
Tips for a great post
- Write a clear, specific title — it’s the first (and often only) thing people read.
- Built: include a live link, and a sentence on what it does and why you made it.
- Ask: add context — what you tried, your setup, and the exact problem.
- Search before posting so you’re not duplicating a recent thread.
- Reply to comments — a conversation gets more visibility than a drive-by link.
Moderation
Posts are screened automatically and can be flagged by the community. Content that breaks these rules is held for review, not auto-deleted — and flagging is never a ban. Repeated or severe violations may lead to account limits. Think something was handled wrong? Let us know.
